More Graphic Design

Some more Graphic Design stuff from a few years ago. This was for a small book about local war veterans that a nearby museum was doing. I did the page layouts, photo restoration, and generally just assembled the book.

Graphic Design, part 1

Some old Graphic Design work from a couple of years ago, for a non-profit organization in Dartmouth. None of the contact information is relevant now, since they moved and changed their name. Shortly after doing this, I realized that I didn't want to do Graphic Design for a living, but this stuff paid the bills for a few months.

Doodles!

The first one is some experimenting with OpenCanvas, the second is some goofy Young Frankenstein fanart, and the third one is actually the full version of the header image! I did this one about... two years ago? It's still one of my favourite pieces.

Behold... the world's tiniest demo reel!

Teeny-tiny demo reel from Molly McV on Vimeo.

This is very much a work in progress! Some of the animation here isn't quite finished, but I hope to have a more completed - and improved - version up here in the future.

The song used in this is called 'We Listen Every Day', and it's by The Go! Team.

More animation tests. I think the balls in the first video are sentient.

"Neutral"

Done for a prompt on a livejournal community I'm part of. The theme of the week was 'neutral'.
When I think 'neutral', I always think of being stuck in the middle of a fight. There's nothing worse than being caught between two angry people, especially when you want nothing to do with the conflict at hand. The best you can hope to do sometimes is block out the noise and wait for the dust to settle.

Life drawing!

Some gestures... these go anywhere from 30 seconds to about 5 minutes.

And some longer ones, ranging from anywhere between 10-30 minutes.

More animation tests

Some more animation tests. I'm trying to teach myself symbol animation in Flash... practice, practice!

People-watching!

A couple of super-quick sketches of people who were milling around the zine fair the other day. So many neat outfits and hairdos, it felt like I was in the middle of some kind of indie fashion show sometimes. I find myself doing more of these quick people-watching doodles these days, and getting a half-decent sketch done before the subject realizes they're being drawn is a fun challenge. Does that make me a creeper?

PS: There was not actually a mime there. I know, I'm sorry. He had a stripey shirt though, and that was really all the justification I needed to turn him into a mime.

Walk cycle - going up and down stairs

Another redone school assignment. I don't think I have the video file from the original assignment, but this one doesn't make my eyes bleed, so I consider it an improvement.

The clay army invades

This is what's been taking up my life for the last week and a half! I made these guys for a craft fair, but that didn't work out so well... so I'm trying to sell some of my clay horde online

More watercolour experimentin'

The adorable Rat (dude on the right) belongs to MTface! I just borrowed him for some experimenting. Tried to go easier on the watercolours this time, and I like how it turned out!

CLOWNS

The moral of this story is that no good can come from fundraising clowns invading your local foodcourt. Also, I should do more comics.

Leap

At some point in college, I started drawing this tribe of crazy bird people who lived in jungle-treehouses. They worshipped birds and the sky, and associated height with spiritual ascension, and the earth with filth, corruption, etc. By their logic, birds were the holiest creatures on earth because of how rarely they touched the ground. Each member had a hairstyle (usually a mohawk) and outfit that resembled a tropical bird, accompanied by some kind of masquerade/plague doctor-lookin' mask, and... oh MAN am I ever tired. yeah, ok, my brain is fried. Time to go to bed.

Acrylics, brush pen, one severely mangled sketchbook page, and some photoshop-fixin'!

Astrobat VS Fast Freddie Ferret

Doodling Astrobat is always a fun way to work off stress. The ferret is Fast Freddie, a jewel thief who's the villain of Astrobat and the Case of the Great Space Race Chase... or at least, he will be, if I can write the damned thing!

Snow, Glass, Apples

Sorry I've been away for so long, guys (all two of you who read this thing!) Life's been keeping me busy. This one's a fanart for Neil Gaiman's horrifying take on Snow White, called Snow, Glass Apples. You'll never be able to look at the original the same way again.

Torterra Picnic

I've been playing a lot of Pokemon Pearl, lately. I wish you coul do this in-game.

Downpour

Started sketching this one in the middle of a thunderstorm. All in all, about half of it is traditional, and half is photoshop-Frankensteining.

Supersnipe!

Supersnipe! He's the mascot for Strange Adventures, the best comic shop in Halifax, and hell, probably the entire east coast of Canada. This was done for a contest to celebrate the opening of a new SA location in Dartmouth.

Prepared For Anything

This was for an old Illustration Friday prompt, which was... 'equipped', I think? I have no idea what this random crazy girl is setting out to do, but with a trumpet, rocketpack and bag full of puppies, I don't think she can go wrong.

Having a hard time figuring out the colours for this one... here are the inks, at least.

Lip sync test... part 1

Ok... this is a redo-in-progress of an old lip sync assignment from NSCC. This sucker has miles to go before it's quote-unquote 'done', and there are loads of problems with consistency and volume, but so far I think it's an improvement on the old assignment.

Avert your eyes! It buuuurns!

Antlered Bearcritters

I have no idea what that antlered bear-thingy she's riding is, but I want to hug one.

... oh good grief, I just realized that the girl looks like Captain Cold!

Just some doods

Portraits! Done with watercolours and acrylics. Man, you combine those two paints and it's like WONDER TWINS- ACTIVATE~!

Ranma

More fanarts. This one was 90% photoshop, especially since the initial sketch had to be reworked a bit.

Sketchdump!

Big ol' sketchdump from earlier in the month! Trying to fill up this blog a bit more...

"There are a lot of attitudes going on around here... don't let me get one."

Fantastic Mr. Fox deserves all the fanart it can get! Played around with ink washes and photoshop overlays for this one.

Testing, 123 Testing...

Just testing! This was some Young Frankenstein fanart that turned into a colouring experiment. I've been humming 'Transylvania Mania' and 'Roll In the Hay' ever since seeing the musical in March.
